I rock rough and tough with my afro puff! ✊🏾Y’all know this is one of my favorite quick and easy hairstyles but protecting it overnight can be quite the challenge! 🤦🏽♀️When you puff gets big, a regular ole bonnet just won’t do!
@ProtectYourMane provided me their products to try which offer custom fit satin-lined sleep caps and shower caps for hair of all lengths. 💁🏽♀️The key to their unique product is the adjustable ring and elastic band which allows you to customize the fit for your head, hair length and preference of wearing the cap up off of your neck or lower – you choose!
It covers your whole head so your hair is protected and edges aren’t neglected! 🎤#Bars
This weekend I had the chance to attend the Black Beauty Festival at Victory Gardens Biograph Theatre which showcased Black-owned and operated beauty companies in the Chicagoland area. I love supporting black-owned companies and this gave me the opportunity to do just that!
I’ve heard great reviews about Eden Body Works from Beauty Blogger Ebony of brownskinbeautiful.com and Tierra, Instagram: black girl.slays. Thus, I was delighted to see them at the event and samples of their products in the goodie bag!
Shea Body Works was another vendor in which I was able to support as they have a Happy Hand and Feet Balm which is made with all natural and oils such as Shea Butter,
Coconut Oil, Avocado oil, Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil and Seed Oil. My youngest son is battling a dry skin spell which we are hoping is jus baby eczema and will try this out for his skin. I will keep you all posted on progress!
Chi Town Naturals (can y’all guess where this brand is from? 😉) is another local brand with an owner whose personality is so inviting and engaging!
Her passion exuded as she discussed her brand, her mission and how the company all started. Did I mention, she is an Aries ♈ like yours truly? 💁🏽♀️ I am excited to try her line of natural homemade organic products! Her motto, Natural hair requires natural products!” spoke to me!
They offered mimosas to sip while you shopped. Y’all know I love me a good mimosa! 🥂
There were other vendors in attendance from hair care, clothing, authors and more! See the videos below!
It was so much fun attending the event to shop with the vendors but also had a chance to meet up with some Black Bloggers United Chicago Chapter members!
A special thank you to Black Bloggers United for and Victory Gardens for the complimentary tickets to attend this amazing event! We need more opportunities to connect with black businesses and support each other! It’s not enough to just talk about it, we need to do it!
One of my favorite things to do for myself is getting a mani & pedi! 💅🏾It’s incredibly easy as a woman, wife and/or mom to put everything before yourself and this is the one thing I ENSURE to do. It’s my time to myself or with my girls to just unwind and chillax!✨
My nail shop is BYOB🥂, too, so that mayyy also have something to do with it. What do y’all think of this color? It’s definitely giving me spring vibes!
Self Care is underrated. 💆🏽 I am preparing for my hot date tonight with Bay to celebrate Valentines Day 😉😘 Date nights are a cherished event especially since little prince Nasir has joined us. We will take all the time we can get!
I’m using Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay for the win! This product consistently shows amazing results for my skin. I love how simple the ingredients are and how quick the improvements are shown on my skin.
Marc Jacobs Beauty bettuh come all the wayyy through! I received the Marc Jacobs Liquid Lip Crayons complimentary from Influenster in the shades: Send Nudes (wearing in the picture) and Flaming-Oh!
Let me tell you love how easy their lip crayon applies to the lips! It has a creamy consistency, pigmeneted color and comes in an applicator that literally looks like a twist up crayon! The best thing about it is the applicator is like a lip liner and lipstick in one with the
precision that the tip provides.
The only thing I noticed that it isn’t 100% transfer proof and may smear due it’s creaminess. I prefer a creamy lip though so loved it!
They have a sleuth of other shades to choose from!
Don’t think for one second my highlight was from anything else than the Marc Jacobs Coconut 🥥 Gel Highlighter! ✨
Today I will be sharing how to remove product build up caused from styling natural or relaxed hair using Hawaiian Silky Apple Cider Vinegar Line! This is a great product to use after protective styles, too!

When you’re going out for a night on the town, the last thing you want to worry about is your makeup smearing, caking or looking “done” before you’re finished with your fun. That’s why wearing a primer is critical!
What is a makeup primer?
Primer is the base you apply before your foundation or your eyeshadow which allows your makeup to be applied easier and last longer. They come in all different forms such a gel, powder or cream.
Nitty gritty response: If you want to be beat to the Gawds all night long, chile wear a primer!
I’m always interested in trying new products and was excited when Milk Makeup provided me with the Blur Stick complimentary to try! And babyyyyy, when I said I applied my makeup at 6pm and it lasted to 1am – two snaps and a twirl! 💃🏾
I have combination skin with blemishes and I loved how this primer didn’t break me out, cause irritation or feel heavy on my skin.
The applicator is easy to roll on. It’s almost like deodorant or you can use your fingers if you prefer.
It is interestingly colorless for all skin tones despite the color of the product! With it being clear, it’s hard to actually see you’ve applied the product. I would recommend taking your time applying it to ensure you’ve covered all spots! Feel free to use your fingers for the corners and crevices.
On my journey to amazing skin, I’ve been definitely paying more attention to products I’m using and their ingredients.
Silicone-free and oil-free (prevents your pores from clogging)
Dimethicone-free (which could cause skin irritation and is a non-biodegradable chemical)
Overall Review The product is light weight, easy to apply and non- problematic for troubled skin. Personally, I don’t have large pores to see a huge difference but did love the overall feel and results of the product for long wear! I wouldn’t personally use it without foundation due to my blemishes (one day I’ll be blemish free and you won’t be able to TELL 👏🏾 ME 👏🏾 NOTHING!)
If you’ve tried this brand, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Comment below!
